Forstner style bits are more suited to drilling cross grain; and give far less entry damage and exit damage at the edge of the hole.

Forstner Bits are necessary to drill through-holes or flat-bottomed (blind) holes to a precise depth for woodworking projects or hardware installations. Unlike most drill bits which are guided by the tip, Forstner bits are guided by the wide outside rim of the bit.

Made of SAE1055 carbon Steel.
